Minimalist and Energy Efficient

Vocon has launched a comprehensive renovation and expansion Project for SOPREMA’s United States Headquarters Office, Research and Development space in Wadsworth, Ohio. The minimalist design for repositioning and expanding the building will parallel SOPREMA’s International global headquarters in Strasbourg, France.

Established over 100 years ago, SOPREMA is an international leader in the manufacture and sale of energy-efficient building envelope systems, such as high-performance commercial roofing, waterproofing, wall protection, and insulation.

The design will employ SOPREMA products to dramatically transform and revitalize the existing structure, originally constructed in 1992. The new addition will double their space over two floors. Incorporating energy-efficient technology will bring the building well beyond current energy codes, 50% below the 2030 baseline target. In 2020, two solar plants were installed for the City of Wadsworth. The community will use the new energy output to increase the amount of electricity from renewable sources and help reduce high transmission and capacity costs.

Additional design features include an atrium with large-scale skylights delivering abundant natural light. The atrium celebrates SOPREMA products and boasts a two-story living wall, a powerful environment that supports creativity and collaboration. Exterior louvers from SOPREMA’s European product line shade the glazing and improve energy utilization. High-performance fritted glazing creates a beautiful veiled effect, void of glare.
Collaboration spaces are intentionally positioned for lively intersections and acoustic flexibility. The building embraces the outdoors and connects the SOPREMA Team to nature, elevating overall well-being.
