After completing the design of their Cleveland Studio with the Vocon Team, Good Karma Brands reached out to partner with them again for the relocation of their Milwaukee Home Office and Studios. The renovation took place partially in the Historic Matthews Building constructed in 1893, and partially in a new Annex that directly connects to the Shoppes of Grand Ave, an 8-acre mall in the heart of downtown Milwaukee.
Planning revolved strongly around the theme of bridging the Historic Matthews Building, Annex, and Mall Atrium spaces into one cohesive office utilizing unique architectural elements from each to the space’s advantage. Recording studios on the first floor look directly into the Food Court of the mall, providing a dynamic connection to the public as well as emphasizing the importance of local marketing and strong community relationships which have been so fundamental to GKB’s success.
Relationships between employees at the Office are just as important to GKB, and are facilitated by a generous cafe space located under an existing overhead skylight and a Game Room/Lounge for a unique meeting or break setting. The aesthetic of the space reflects the blend between intentional Historic preservation in the Matthews Building and the industrial architecture of the city.
