A New Home for the Future

While stay-at-home orders and a sharp embrace of remote working cast an uncertain light for the summer of 2020, the Corcoran Group saw a monumental opportunity to pivot its operations and stay at the forefront of the new global working climate. Their previous headquarters at 660 Madison Avenue was spread over non-sequential floors, was overcrowded and quickly became non-functional for the company’s fast-growing team of employees and agents.

A testament to Corcoran’s leadership – the relocation of their NYC headquarters to 590 Madison Avenue was a strategic repositioning at a time when most companies stayed still. They took a risk, invested in themselves, and found a new home that would carry their vision into the future.

Originally started by Barbara Corcoran, the national residential real estate company is now operated by CEO Pamela Liebman. As a fellow female-owned company, the Vocon team enjoyed working closely with Pam and her team to develop and plan a space over two floors. We worked with the team to blend their existing space with their new space, salvaging much of their existing furniture, light fixtures, and even finding ways to reuse millwork that the Corcoran team used often in their old space. Though this presented unique challenges, the team enjoyed working together with the Corcoran and consultant teams to repurpose what worked and phase out what didn’t.

In the end, the Vocon team produced a successful blend of old and new, high-end and functional – a brand new corporate headquarters with a fresh, residential eye.
