A New Home for CCM
The recently completed CrossCountry Mortgage Headquarters in Cleveland’s Superior Arts District is an adaptive reuse project of four historic buildings into one corporate headquarters campus. The campus is one of the city’s largest new headquarters projects in nearly a decade and has brought more than 800 full-time jobs to Cleveland.
The facility features a 4,600 SF training center, 7,100 SF commons area illuminated with a 40×60’ skylight, a grab-and-go food pantry, and a 9,600 SF gym and locker room facilities.
Three of the four buildings were built circa the 1900s, while the fourth is a 1950’s high-bay warehouse. To overcome the challenge of upgrading the facility to meet modern handicapped requirements, the project connected the main floor level with the miss-aligned levels of the corner building’s five levels by surgically placing a new 6-stop elevator in the center of the facility where an old four-story freight elevator sat. In addition, the work entailed complete infrastructure upgrades, masonry restoration, window and door replacement, roof replacement and complete renovation of the interior to support the new home for CCM.
The project was awarded State and Federal Historic Preservation Tax Credits and a transformational Mixed Use Development Tax Credit.
